Highbury New Park
Located in the Highbury New Park Conservation Area, this project involved the refurbishment of a grand Victorian property, as well as the extension and conversion of the original coach house.
Works to the main building were carefully undertaken in order to preserve the character of the original architecture, whilst also rationalising the internal flat layouts. Original details were preserved where possible and reinstated where these were lost.
A contemporary glazed extension to the coach house opens it to more daylight. The pitched glass roof provides space for a mezzanine level to look down into the kitchen and living areas, adding to a sense of openness. Externally the façade was redesigned to emphasise the original arched passage, fitting in neatly with the original architectural features.
